for this shoot, i was very inspired by weddings i have previously photographed; waiting for the perfect moment to capture the confetti in mid-air. the way it blurs a photograph looks amazing, and i wanted my portrait to include that.
however, the complication was that the subject HAS to be a stranger... and i don't think they'd appreciate me throwing confetti in their face right away.
i'd organised this shoot several times, each time something happened that prevented it all from happening. so, half an hour before my allocated studio time i was running around my university like a madman with my friends Helena and Sam, trying to find someone who would look willing to be pelted with confetti for me. eventually, we found somebody on Helena's course (who i'd never met - so they technically are a stranger!!) and Hayley thankfully agreed to help me in my time of need!
with the help of my lovely assistants (helena & sam) i wouldn't have been able to shoot confetti - so thank you to them!
it took a while for poor hayley to get used to the confetti being aggressively thrown in her face...
helena's face here is priceless - couldn't resist adding this into this post!
after finally discovering the right shutter speeds/adjusting lighting, i decided to crack on and try shoot!
having to fluff hayley's hair every 5 minutes...
i ended up with this photograph (my favourite with confetti) which i LOVE! i haven't tried to edit out the bit of confetti on her nose yet, because i know it'll be stupidly difficult.
however... i came across this lighting test shot, and i think it's definitely my favourite from the whole entire shoot! i caught hayley off-guard and i just love how relaxed yet serious she looks...
i'm pretty sure that it will be one of my final outcome photographs.
and finally...
GROUP SHOT!!!
